Active Diplomate 2010 Annual Registration and 2009 Recertification

The Council on Dental Education of the American Dental Association requires all recognized specialty certification boards to remain economically independent.  Assessment of a Diplomate annual fee is therefore necessary to finance the many endeavors of the ABP and is required to maintain certification.

2010 Annual Registration Forms were mailed to all Active Diplomates October 2009 to be completed and returned along with the annual registration fee to the Board office by January 1, 2010.   A reminder of the January 1st due date was sent to those Diplomates who had not registered and paid the annual registration fee by December 1st.  A second reminder was mailed on January 4th.  Diplomates who did not complete their annual registration requirement by January 15th incurred a $100 late fee.  If registration was not completed by March 31st the Diplomate was sent a certified letter placing him/her on Inactive status.  No periodontist may claim to be board certified while on Inactive Status.  Return to Active Status will require payment of any past due annual registration fee(s) and a $75 reactivation fee plus the late fee of $100.

Diplomates who were to meet Recertification Requirements in 2009 were mailed a notice in January of 2009 that recertification, (CE points, completion of SSRP, and attestation form), must be completed by December 31st.  If the Diplomate did not recertify by March 31, 2010  he/she was placed on Inactive status and must completed their recertification requirement and incur at $75 reactivation fee in order to be returned to Active status.  No periodontist may claim to be board certified while on Inactive Status.
